Strengthening Managerial Capabilities in Cuban Entities

The European Commission supports this initiative as part of its cooperation programme with Cuba.
FORGEC – Strengthening Managerial Capabilities in Cuban entities aims to improve the efficiency of the Cuban companies by providing excellent training in the management techniques currently used in Europe. This 42-month project has been made possible by a grant from the European Commission, through the 2009 Annual Action Programme for Non-State Actors and Local Authorities in Development. The project also seeks to establish long-term cooperation in the field of management education between Cuba and Europe.

The project aims to:
Provide a rapid response to the immediate needs of the Cuban economy for trained managers.
Establish long-term cooperation in the field of management education between Cuba and Europe and support a permanent structure, which promotes quality in higher education.
Improve the quality of Cuban universities and schools hosting management studies and contribute to processes that facilitate accreditation.
Update the knowledge and foster mutual aid among the 550 graduates of predecessor programmes DADE and DEADE.
Target Groups
- Cuban managers and professors of management
- Cuban local actors in charge of the economic and social development
- University administrators from the Cuban higher education sector
- Deans, vice-deans and senior representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education
- Cuban universities and other Cuban academic institutions
- Escuelas Ramales, specific capacity-building institutions localised in university campuses or in government ministries
- Cuban/mixed enterprises, cooperatives, etc.
