European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD)
EFMD is an international membership organisation, based in Brussels, Belgium. It includes over 820 member organizations from academia, business, public service and consultancy in 82 countries. It represents a unique forum for information, research, networking and debate on innovation and best practice in management development.
EFMD is recognised globally as an accreditation body of quality in management education with established accreditation services for business schools (EQIS) and business school programmes (EPAS) and corporate universities (CLIP).
EFMD has been leading or participating in more than 50 international projects in the field of higher education, over the last 15 years. EFMD main areas of expertise are the implementation of quality assurance and regional accreditation systems, the evolution of technology enabled learning, entrepreneurship and capacity building in the field of management education.
Cuban Ministry of Higher Education (MES)
The Ministry of Higher Education of Cuba is the Cuban state agency responsible for the training of professionals required by the country, as well as their subsequent improvement through graduate education. It also has the task of training leaders from different sectors, for which it is responsible for the preparation and improvement of management professors.
It has a network of universities in all provinces and in all higher education centres in Cuban municipalities, which guarantees to managers and to professional in all sectors access to education and training.
European Union (EU)
The EU is a unique economic and political partnership between 28 European countries that together cover much of the continent. The EU with its member states is the largest global donor, allocating approximately 53,000 million per year to assist low-income countries, which represent more than 50% of total Official Development Assistance. The main objectives of the EU development policy are: eradicate poverty and promote sustainable democracy, peace and security.
The EU and Cuba converge in their interest to preserve and strengthen their relations and cooperation ties, should also be considered in the broader context of the historical ties between the EU and Latin American and the Caribbean.
Since 2009, the EU has implemented more than 60 projects in Cuba with a contribution of more than 86 million euros in the following main areas: Food Safety, Environment, Adaptation to Climate Change, Renewable Energy, Promotion of culture, heritage and social development and Support to socio-economic modernisation. For the period 2014-2020, the EU will grant 50 million euros in bilateral aid to supplement their action in these sectors.
